Kids want to learn how to roller skate too!  Increasing the amount of physical activity is beneficial to child development, and we believe roller skating brings even more than just physical activity.  We take pride in our welcoming environment where everyone can count on being included, and encouraged in a positive manner.  This 5 day program provides learning tools and practices to be safe on roller skates, and celebrate all achievements.  We offer 1 hour a day as we feel strongly that 1 hour is just enough time before muscles need a significant break.  The posture required to roller skate can be exhausting at any age, and your child’s safety is our first priority.

Monday – Understanding how roller skates work, parts of roller skates, holding posture, positions and how to slow down to a stop.

Tuesday – Building confidence with practicing posture in a skate stride, and fine tuning stopping techniques.

Wednesday – Changing direction “transitions” can be completed in multiple ways.  We identify how this can be done, and learn the safest for the group as a whole.

Thursday – Backwards day in Pajamas! Wear your cozy jammies while learning how to skate backwards! If you have the right posture, anything is possible and we will work together to understand techniques to roller skating backwards.

Friday – Dance Day! Wear your most colourful outfit on this day! Music brings out the best in our bodies, and we will learn how to groove smoothly with wheels under our feet – together!

Each day we use tools that encourage learning with warming up, games, props and quick water breaks.  Please have your child bring a filled up water bottle to stay hydrated.  All participants must wear full gear.  Helmet, wrist guards, elbow pads and knee pads. Gear is not provided by Retro Rollers Inc.

Maximum number of participants 30, Ratio 10(children):1 (instructor)

We ask that parents/guardians leave contact information where you can be reached in case it is needed.  You are not expected to stay for the hour.  All participants must have a waiver completed by their parent or guardian.
